Helena comes to the bar with five years of experience as a solicitor working in boutique litigation firms in Brisbane. Helena holds a Bachelor of Laws with Second Class Honours from the University of Queensland and is available to practice in all courts in all states and territories as required.
Helena was called to the bar in 2024 and has a predominantly commercial practice acting and advising in matters involving corporations, contractual disputes, intellectual property, defamation, insolvency, employment, and estate disputes. Helena also works in criminal, regulatory and family law matters. Her comprehensive knowledge and experience make her a trusted advisor in complex legal matters.
For example, she has provided advice to creditors of insolvent companies as to their rights and remedies, including acting for creditors in relation to winding up proceedings under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth); Acted for creditors in proceedings for the recovery of property in satisfaction of judgment debts; and, successfully overturning a decision by the Australian Taxation Office concerning liability to pay super guarantee charges on wages earned by personal trainers operating out of a health club.
