Background

James was called to the bar in 2026.

Prior to taking the call, James was a Principal Lawyer in a federal Agency and previously served as an Associate at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (which subsequently became the Administrative Review Tribunal). He holds a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice (with Distinction) and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.

James works across a broad variety of practice areas, including public and administrative law (including merits and judicial review), disciplinary proceedings and inquiries, industrial and employment law, commercial disputes, tax and appellate work. He has a strong academic interest in international law.

He lives in Brisbane but is happy to travel as needed, including interstate for Commonwealth matters.
